Lead Data Engineer

We are on a journey towards implementing a modern Data Platform and we want you to join us!

As the Lead Data Engineer, you will be a key player in our future Fabric solution, being part of the complete process from requirement gathering with end-users, extracting source data, data modeling and building the semantic models in PowerBI. Further you will help with the overall architecture of our solution, to automate processes and ensure consistency in data flows.

Your profile

We are looking for an experienced data engineer with a relevant educational background and 6+ years of experience, with a focus on data solutions in Azure. We currently have several legacy ERP systems due to mergers, and your job is to secure consolidated reporting in the new Data Platform on top of these systems. Further, we are rolling out D365FO with the first pilot site going live at the end of 2025. You will be an important part of this project, where the new Data Platform should contain the needed reporting at go-live.

You are probably humble by nature and cannot check off all the requirements below, but hopefully there are a lot of known topics, and you are able to quickly learn the rest because you are curious and like to explore.

  • Microsoft Fabric (excluding PowerBI), either hands-on from a project or self-learning with some of the components. You have or are planning to take the DP-600 (and DP-700) certification.
  • PowerBI, from an architectural perspective knowing license models (with their limitations), API´s, RLS and deployment options
  • Azure Services, that are used in batch related data solutions (ADF, SQL, KeyVault, Storage Accounts, etc.) and preferably also near real-time solutions (Functions, Event Grid, etc).
  • Cloud security, on a level where you know when to use a service principal, managed identity, etc. and in general terms what a Vnet is.
  • Data Modelling, with SQL and/or Python, using Kimball methodology
  • Azure DevOps, where Boards, Git repositories and CI/CD is a natural part of the development process
  • Communication skills, because your job as the Lead is to support and mentor other members of the data team and in general collaborate with end-users in the business, in an international setup
  • FinOps, to secure low consumption and in general what the pro/cons of Azure components are regarding cost, low/pro-code and execution frequency

Further it is beneficial if some of the following topics are also in your toolbelt:

  • D365FO, understanding of the data model from the ERP system where you have preferably setup export of data from the system, data modelling and reporting on top
  • On-prem Microsoft BI and/or Qlik tools, some understanding of the technologies (SSIS, SSAS, SSRS, QlikView, QlikSense) that are used on our legacy data platforms to a level where you can re-use some of the business logic on the new Data Platform
  • Databricks, working with Spark, Python and Delta Lakes gaining insights that can be utilized in Microsoft Fabric
  • Power Platform, using Power Apps and Power Automate, both on its own and in combination with PowerBI reports

You speak and communicate fluently in English, and Danish language is also an advantage but not a requirement.

What we offer

You will be part of the team that transitions the company into a digitized future, going from a complex setup with several different on-prem data platforms to a professional setup in Microsoft Fabric. We offer a job where you can make a difference and be challenged, while having fun with your colleagues.

The 4 members of the Data Team are located in 3 different countries. You will be working closely with the Data Platform Manager in the Vejle area and we expect that the transportation from your place of residence to the office to be a maximum of 60 minutes. You will also cooperate with our external partners that support our journey, where they have provided the framework and needed support in the project.

You will be offered a competitive salary that matches your qualifications and there are of course the standard things you would expect from the workplace, like mobile phone, internet provided at your home, modern maternity terms, great coffee and a good canteen. Further, there are social activities with the staff association and the opportunity to being part of an already established Data ERFA group with associated companies.

To support learning there are possibilities to attend relevant conferences and take relevant certifications.
